CHRISTMAS FOOD

To those who celebrate Christmas, there is nothing more magical than the holiday season. Families and friends get together to celebrate the holiday, exchange gifts, and of course, chow down. While there are many differences in how the Christmas holiday is celebrated, food is always a big part of the season, no matter where you are. Food, after all, is a timeless way of bringing people together, so it is fitting that the holiday is celebrated with a lavish feast, which really might be the best Christmas gift of all.

The typical Christmas meal may be different by destination, but the idea of indulging in a feast, be it on the day itself or the night before, isn’t.

Traditional Christmas dinner features turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, and vegetables. For dessert, pumpkin or apple pie, raisin pudding, Christmas pudding or fruit cake are staples.

However, ever since the coronavirus has spread all around the world, the way people celebrate Christmas has changed. What used to be a joyous occasion full of excitement is now gloomy and lifeless. Families and friends cannot meet up without taking loads of precautions. The amount of safety restrictions that have been put in place in order to prevent the Covid virus from spreading, even more, has made it unable for people to fully enjoy themselves.

Nevertheless, this does not stop most families from getting together for Christmas dinner. They take all necessary precautions and most importantly try to enjoy themselves as much as they can as this event happens only once a year.

On this last note, I wish you all a Merry Christmas!
